The Island / every day for future
Multimedia dance performance / Dance & Activism / 40 min. Topics: Climate crisis, individual and collective responsibility, taking action.
Can we exit the system?
Is there a planet B?
What can we do here and now?
When activist John Jordan spoke 15 years ago about the dominant issue being global warming, it was too abstract to comprehend.
Today, we are witnessing natural disasters around the world, we are experiencing the effects of climate change and the consequences of our lifestyles. Thanks to Greta Thunberg’s “Fridays for Future” movement, we are gaining an awareness of our home: the Earth.
The Earth is a “human” playground and yet an island. The only one. There is no “Planet B
Company Two in One
Fragile future of our planet… Sounds very pathetic and banal, actually a clichéd image that is true at the same time, the “island” is also a symbol of the fragile existence of our home: Earth. The “blue pale dot” in the solar system. Dust in the universe. Macro- and microcosmos, just like our life, our bodies. We wanted to use all possible composition tools to create motion phrases; to give the audience the opportunity to decode the choreography – quasi for themselves – and to have the freedom of association and interpretation of the movements. The dramaturgical approach comes from elements of a casual rehearsal/everyday life situation into which we insert ourselves with physical (movement), visual (video projection) and sonic (sound installation by Gammon) transformation. The audience is to be put into an emotional, philosophical and (melo)dramatic state of mind.
We have been inspired and use text fragments from / by Greta T. / Friday for Future, Carl Segan Astronomer (USA) “Pale Blue Dot”, Rob Greenfield & his “Trashman Project” (USA).
Staging: Ákos Hargitay and choreography in collaboration with the performers.
